Do I need a permit to add onto my house? If so, whom do I call?

All general remodeling, structural remodeling, construction additions to existing structures, or detached accessory structures require a building permit. Permits for electrical, plumbing and mechanical work may also be required, depending on the scope of work. A licensed contractor or the homeowner may obtain permits.

Who do I call about stop signs, street signs or traffic signals?

To report issues concerning street signs or signals (including stolen, damaged or non-reflective), please call (270) 439-5979 or submit by emailing service@oakgroveky.org. The issue will be routed to the responsible Department.

Who do I call to report potholes?

Please call (270) 439-5979 to report the problem or email service@oakgroveky.org. The request will be forwarded to the Roads and Grounds Department. This department also repairs low shoulders and concrete panels.

Who should I call for Water related concerns?

The Utility Department is responsible for all water activities including
cave-ins and leaks on the City side of the Meter.

Citizens with water related issues can contact the Oak Grove Utility Department at (270) 439-5433 Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.) or submit an email to ogutil4@oakgroveky.org.

Residents with emergency water related issues that occur after hours will need to call the Utility Department at (270) 489-5433; at which time their call will be forwarded to on-call staff.

Who should I call for Animal Issues?

Please call (270) 439-4646 for all non-emergency calls to report a problem or email animalcontrol@oakgroveky.org. The request will be forwarded to the Animal Control Officer.

For emergency animal control calls (i.e. vicious dog, animal endangerment, etc.) please call our emergency dispatch line at

Who should I call for Code Violations (high grass, dilapidation, etc)?

Call (270) 439-4646 to report the problem or email code_enforcement@oakgroveky.org. Your request will be processed.

Welcome to the City of Oak Grove Public Works Department! The Department of Public Works is responsible for a wide variety of activities including maintenance of streets and roads, maintenance and operation of drainage facilities, maintenance and operation of clean water resources, animal control, coordination of environmental activities, building code enforcement, construction inspection and approval, maintenance of public buildings, engineering services for construction projects including design and supervision and traffic control device maintenance.
